It’s very difficult for most of us to imagine that spring is around the corner just yet, especially with blustery wind gusts chilling our cheeks, and snow falling in many regions. However, one of my favorite ways to perk up a dull, gray, chilly day (which it currently is here!) is to put on a “happy shade.” For me, Maybelline ColorSensational Lipstick in Pink Peony is that perfect bright, mood-lifting shade, with it’s gorgeous bright berry pink color, and it’s sheen. Maybelline ColorSensational Lipstick’s are currently my favorite drugstore lipsticks, because they are very inexpensive and come in a huge array of colors. Each color is grouped in their display by type (i.e, pink’s, brown’s, red’s), making it easy to find the shade you’re looking for in the store. And for just under $5 a pop, you get a quality lipstick that puts down pigmented color. Let’s channel visions of spring blooms, butterflies, and warm sunshine, and see swatches of this shade,
Pink Peony is a bright peony pink with tiny bits of gold and white sheen built in. The color is satiny-smooth, moisturizing on your lips, and puts down beautiful, opaque color in just one swipe. The wear on this lipstick is about average, around 3-5 hours, depending on how often you are patting your lips. This lipstick has a sweet scent to it that I can’t quite place. It did not make my lips sensitive in any way, or effect my review on this lipstick since it’s quite a pleasant smell.
The packaging on these lipsticks is quite nice for being such a great value, price wise. Most stores sell these lipsticks under $5, including Walmart and Target, making ColorSensational Lipstick a product that you can stock up on without breaking the bank.
I personally found the formula on this lipstick to be quite creamy and moisturizing. It didn’t dry out my lips, and it didn’t highlight imperfections on my lips, either. There is no worse quality in a lipstick, in my opinion, than one that dries out your lips and makes them flake.
Above, I am wearing one swipe of Pink Peony on both my top and lower lips. You can see just how pigmented this shade is, even for being a pink, and how the gold and white sheen in it really adds to the overall brightening effect. When I wear this shade, it perks up my entire face, making it look more rested, as well as more approachable. You can see above why I call it my “happy shade!”
The sheen in this lipstick also does a wonderful job at making your lips appear fuller and plumper. It basically does the whole “highlight the middle of your lips” trick for you.
Maybelline ColorSensational Lipstick in Pink Peony is available at drugstores and major retailers nationwide, for around $5-$6 each. These lipsticks come in a vast array of shades from reds, to browns, to pinks, to frosts. I do not know the exact number of shades this line contains, but I know it is over twenty.
