I’m always thinking about fall way too early, usually by the time late July heat sinks in. I’m ready for the rich, saturated, darker shades of autumn and so I knew I had to scoop up Urban Decay’s Revolution Lipstick in Shame. I recently swatched “Venom,” which is one of my current favorite lipstick shades as well. Shame is the embodiment of fall beauty for me: luxurious, rich, saturated, edgy color. I cannot tell you how incredible the formula on the Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick is…I’m slowly working my way through buying my favorites!
Urban Decay’s promotional poster for the Revolution Lipstick line actually features Shame as the lipstick on the model. I was instantly drawn to the way her porcelain skin looks against the rich burgundy color. I’m not afraid of a dark, vampy lip and neither should you be!
The new Revolution Lipsticks are really beautiful. They have nice metallic, heavy, sturdy packaging on the outside, and the formula is so hydrating and creamy. You will be amazed at how one swipe of the lipstick will put down insane color.
Shame is a deep berry/burgundy shade. It’s actually a multi-faceted looking shade because once it is applied, it almost looks as though it has some super fine red shimmer in it. It’s noticeable really only up close, but I realized that it lends a gorgeous glowing “ruby” look to the center of your lips where the light naturally hits. It almost gives a natural ombre lip effect because of this.
You can see that the color is very much a merlot-inspired shade. It’s so rich and so very autumn-like.
I can’t even handle the prettiness that is this shade! It is insanely pigmented, and even I applied too much at first because I wasn’t expecting it to be so opaque and rich in color. That being said, you can dab this on your lips for a wash of burgundy color or really go all out. I also like that the micro-fine shimmer in it brings light to the center of your lips, making the outside edges of the color naturally look darker. This is a really intense shade, so you will need a lip liner, and even then, it may feather from your lip line a bit (like it did for me in the pictures above). Keep in mind though that my photographs are extremely zoomed in and high quality, so in person the feathering outside the lip line looks minimal. It’s very vampy and bold. I also think it will flatter a lot of skin tones, too, from very fair and porcelain to very dark.
I think in the future, I’ll apply this shade with a lip brush for a more precise application, especially since the color is just so intense and pigmented.
Urban Decay’s Revolution Lipsticks are available at Ulta and Sephora stores nationwide. You can also browse and purchase these online at Sephora’s website. Each lipstick retails for $22.00 USD. Shame is the deepest, darkest color of the bunch. I still have my eye on Catfight, Jilted, Anarchy, and Streak.
